CRIS CYBORG TALKING TO UFC ABOUT NEW DEAL

Former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is in talks with all the world’s top MMA advertising about a new contract, according to her representative Audie Attar, who spoke to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on his MMA show. Cyborg has just one fight left her contract following her shocking KO loss to Amanda Nunes in UFC 232, however her and her representatives have been apparent with the UFC they are interested in a reunion.
In accordance with Attar, Cyborg expects to fight at UFC 237, which takes place this May in Curitiba, Brazil. The principal event of this event will be headlined by UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas carrying on No. 1 contender Jessica Andrade, and it makes a great deal of awareness to pump up the undercard using a fighter of Cyborg’s popularity and name worth, notably in Brazil. If Cyborg does struggle in UFC 237, that is going to be the final fight on her contract, even as he’s only 1 fight left on it without any champion’s clause because of losing the belt.
The UFC would be smart to bring back Cyborg on a brand new deal. She’s proven to be a bit of a pay-per-view draw in some time when the UFC wants fighters who market displays, and she won’t be economical to re-sign, she is proven to be worth the price. So far as women’s fighters proceed, there aren’t many more exciting fighters than Cyborg and there sure are not many with considerably more name worth than she’s. The UFC absolutely should re-sign her provided that the request is appropriate.
Although it would be nice to view Cyborg get a rematch with Nunes viewing like she was on a 13-year win streak before losing her belt in upset fashion, it is very unlikely Nunes would take that fight. The rumor is that Nunes wants to fight Holly Holm next for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship, which will leave Cyborg with no next logical competitor. There are not a lot of featherweights from the UFC right now, but both that do stand out are Megan Anderson and Cat Zingano. Anderson just beat Zingano in controversial fashion following a flea sliced her attention and the fight was stopped in the first round at UFC 232, but Anderson did get her hand raised. If the UFC desired to do Cyborg from Anderson in Brazil, that is a struggle that produces a lot of sense.
Cyborg will fight out that last fight of her contract, however in the case she will enter free agency, she will have a lot of suitors. Evidently, Bellator would take a run at her as her ex-Strikeforce promoter Scott Coker is in charge of the company. But I would guess RIZIN and ONE would also take a run at her, and of course the WWE, Golden Boy MMA as well as some boxing promotions. Cyborg will have plenty of options to choose from. However, if her broker has been sincere, she would like to come back to the UFC, and it would be ideal to get MMA fans if that is what occurs.
